UAE clarifies position on fears of US attack on Iran
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a strong message against any kind of attack on Iran. The country has made it clear that the UAE will not be allowed to use its territory for any Iranian attack. This information was given in a statement by the country’s Foreign Ministry on Monday (January 26) amid recent fears of a US attack on Iran.
Earlier, last week, US President Donald Trump said that a US “fleet” was moving towards the Gulf region and Washington had increased its monitoring of Iran in the wake of its bloody crackdown on protesters.
Reuters reports.
The country’s Foreign Ministry statement said that the UAE reiterated its commitment not to allow its airspace, land or waters to be used for any hostile military action against Iran.
Thousands of US troops are stationed at Al-Dhafra Air Base near the country’s capital Abu Dhabi. This Emirati base is one of several US military installations in the Gulf region.
The statement also said that the Emirates will not even provide logistical support for any attack on Iran. The influential country in the Middle East has stated that the best way to deal with the current crisis is through dialogue, de-escalation, adherence to international law, and respect for state sovereignty.
